Notebook from 84-79 loss to Las Vegas
The Valkyries have gone with the same starting five of Veronica Burton, Cecilia Zandalasini, Gabby Williams, Kayla Thornton and Kiah Stokes for four games in a row. They have combined to be 1-3 in that time.
After not leading since 2-0, the Valkyries went ahead in the fourth quarter on a Tiffany Hayes three-pointer with 8:48 left.
Meanwhile, the Aces didn’t generate any points off the bench until the fourth when Jewell Loyd hit a floater. That didn’t matter when Jacie Young went off for 27 points, five rebounds and five assists.
The Valkyries return home to face Phoenix on Tuesday night at 6-5. This road trip was their first time losing two games in a row since last year’s two-game playoff series against Minnesota.
