Notes from 90-82 loss to Indiana
  • Janelle Salaun and Caitlin Clark each received technical fouls at halftime on Friday after an altercation beneath the basket. Clark was later assessed a Flagrant Foul 1 in the fourth quarter for delivering a hard screen on Veronica Burton. She ended the game with five personal fouls, matching a career high. Salaun did not speak to reporters afterward, while Clark said she was trying to grab a rebound and didn’t know she had been assessed a technical.

“I'm not going to say anything else because obviously I got probably a thousand-dollar worth of fines coming my way,” she said.

  • Friday also marked Monique Billings’ first matchup against the Valkyries since departing in free agency during the offseason. She finished with two points and three rebounds in 11 minutes.

“Mo gave us that leadership, that locker room leadership that no one really got to see. She loved her teammates deeply, and at the same time, she was always kind of like their protector,” Valkyries coach Natalie Nakase said pregame. “To call myself out, anytime I really went at the team, Mo was the first to settle me (down) … Mo was very good in the locker room.”
