Notebook from 81-75 loss against Lynx

  • The plays right before halftime got very confusing and Gabby Williams took responsibility when asked about it after the game. She earned consecutive three-point shooting fouls in the waning seconds and turned the ball over by stepping out of bounds in between. Williams fouled Coffey with 0.2 of a second left and asked for a review, but the Valkyries were called with a delay of game foul, and head coach Natalie Nakase said that the officials didn’t let her call for a challenge after.

“They call it a delay of game, but like neither team was lined up,” Nakase said. “Did you guys notice that no team was lined up? And then he called it delay of game on the Valkyries.”

  • There was a little pregame drama when Lynx guard Courtney Williams called Valkyries fans “bullies” on an Instagram live video. The Chase Center crowd booed her when she was announced in pregame warmups, and she blew kisses after making a late three-pointer. Williams had a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
