  • What an atmosphere at Ballhalla. One of the biggest takeaways has to be the way the Valkyries closed that game out. They nearly blew an 11-point lead, but with a closing lineup of Veronica Burton, Juste Jocyte (!!), Janelle Salaun, Kiah Stokes and Gabby Williams, they showed a better ability to lock down late than any point last season.

“That was pretty much our first close game, coming down to the wire,” said Burton.

  • Natalie Nakase had an excellent postgame presser. From the bar “everyone is a rival” to her second “if I was God” comment about not knowing the future, you could tell she was in good spirits.

“We’re getting used to our atmosphere,” Nakase said. “Tonight (the fans) were after it, they were booing at the right times. So thank you Ballhalla. And our team really stuck together. Everyone gave max effort.”

  • The 5-2 Valkyries are now tied for first place in the WNBA. How about that!
