Notebook items ahead of the two-game road trip
The Valkyries still don’t play until Thursday in New York, so there won’t be any sort of availability report until late Wednesday afternoon. There are four question marks: Tiffany Hayes (left pinky), Cecilia Zandalasini (concussion), Veronica Burton (illness) and Juste Jocyte (yet to join the team).
It seemed likely that Burton would be fine, despite missing two practices this weekend with a cough. Hayes had also been practicing since Thursday but re-jammed her pinky at Sunday’s practice, though head coach Natalie Nakase seemed unconcerned. Nakase did not address if Jocyte or Zandalasini would travel.
Ashten Prechtel, it seems, might get some playing time if any of them remain out. Jocyte’s contract needs to be unsuspended, so even if she is with the team by now, they may not activate her just yet to keep Prechtel available.
