In her exit interview on Monday, Kiah Stokes said she was surprised people didn’t know that Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase had been more loose after Golden State clinched a WNBA title.

“I think it’s funny when people are surprised she’s dropping the F word,” Stokes said. “… So for her to just let herself finally like just relax and have fun. Like she's been stressful all year, right? So just to see her let loose, trying to get Gabby (Williams) drunk, like I just live for moments like that.”

She was loose on Wednesday, as the team hit the Embarcadero for their parade route that started with a ferry trip from Oakland. Signing autographs along the path to King and 2nd Streets, Nakase hugged fans who cried and told her how much this team meant to them.

“I told you it was gonna be ugly, we said gloves off,” Nakase said of the series during the team’s tipoff ceremony in Oakland. “It was gonna be a fight, it was gonna be a street fight.”
