The Golden State Valkyries swept a five-game road trip for the first time in franchise history to extend a team record eight-game winning streak. In those five road games, they showed different ways to win.
“At any point in the season, some teams are gonna have highs and lows, and especially like on the two-week road trip, we're tired, we're staying at a hotel, like we're not in our normal routine,” Valkyries center Kiah Stokes told Valkyries Beat in Indianapolis. “I think it just goes to our growth. I was talking with a few of the players (who were here) last year, and they were saying that if the game was close at the end, like the team would like crumble and they want to win, and so like this year they felt that they've taken a big step to like kind of close those close games, and I think it'll just help us in the long run.”
Those different paths to victory taught us different things about this Valkyries’ team ability to close games, something they struggled at last season.
