  • It was interesting to hear Marta Suarez talk about her decision to sign a development deal with Phoenix on Sunday. Valkyries Beat reported last week that Golden State did offer Suarez a developmental contract, but she declined it to join the Mercury. She confirmed that and expanded on it.

“They never just took me for granted,” Suarez told reporters at Chase Center. “Sometimes you have to look at a lot of things and find the right fit for you, and at the end of the day, I’ve always made my decision on intuition. The Bay is always going to be home … but I just felt like the opportunity to go to the Phoenix Mercury, I thought that was very cool.”

  • That interview happened just after Kate Martin spoke with reporters in Los Angeles about joining the Sparks. She said there were “conversations” about returning to Golden State on a developmental deal, but she chose the Sparks.
