Notes from 87-70 win against New York
  • Right before the game, the Valkyries announced they had brought back Ashten Prechtel on a developmental player contract, filling their second spot. She had signed a hardship deal last week but it expired and they waived her. Since no one picked her up, she was eligible to sign the deal with the Golden State and joined Miela Sowah.

“She fits perfectly with us just in terms of high character,” head coach Natalie Nakase said before Thursday’s game. “She’s selfless, she always thinks about the team first. On top of that, she has a high IQ.”

  • Thursday’s game was Kayla Thornton’s 300th regular-season game in her career, making her the eighth undrafted player since 2000 or later to have appeared in 300+ regular season games.
