After the Golden State Valkyries perhaps didn’t make too many splashy moves in their first offseason, they’ve added likely their top talent for the 2026 season.

Enter Gabby Williams.

Golden State has been pursuing Williams since last season, according to Valkyries Beat sources, and she chose the Valkyries over offers from the Minnesota Lynx and Las Vegas Aces on Sunday.

“For a player of Gabby’s caliber to choose us in just our second year… means everything,” Valkyries general manager Ohemaa Nyanin said in a statement. “She is world-class. One of the best defenders in the world, a WNBA All-Star, and someone who makes everyone around her better. Honestly, what excites me most is who she is as a person. Gabby has deep roots in the Bay Area, and she is coming home. The community is going to love her, and I think she is going to love it here.”

Williams had the best year of her career with Seattle in 2025 making her first All-Star game appearance and earning all-defensive first-team honors while averaging 11.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game and shooting 42.1% overall and 30.5% from 3-point distance.

The terms of the deal are yet to be announced.
