Welcome to your new home for Golden State Valkyries coverage.

Hi there, welcome to my newest project! My name is Marisa Ingemi, and I am a women’s sports reporter based in San Francisco. Last season, I covered the Golden State Valkyries and this was my way to keep bringing you coverage.

The goal of this newsletter and website is to bring you up-to-date beat coverage of the Bay Area’s WNBA squad, including features and exclusives.

I have spent two decades working for legacy media. I'm proud of the lessons I learned and connections I built with this community, but I could not be more excited to work independently on projects I'm passionate about for readers who deserve a dedicated journalist representing them.

While I will do select projects for other media outlets, I will always have my eye on the Valkyries. I'll be at most home games, practices and press availabilities.

The rest is where you come in.

While I will share limited free content weekly here and on social media, I am hoping you are willing to pay for more in-depth coverage. Your support would allow me to travel to cover the team on the road, where some of the best stories are developed.

How do you support Valkyries Beat?

I am offering three subscriptions tiers during the first year of this project.

An All-Star pass that costs $5 per month will get you unlimited access to breaking news, features, Q&As, in-person events and more.

A Hall of Fame pass starts at $150 and can go beyond that to whatever figure our founding investors choose to donate. With this pass, you get unlimited access to breaking news, features, Q&As and access to in-person events available to all-stars. But you also receive an invitation to one Hall of Fame exclusive event and first access to all projects developed on Valkyries Beat in 2026.

A season pass costs $40 and can be broken into two installments, giving you all-star access during the WNBA preseason, regular season and playoffs.

All content on this website will be independently edited and fact-checked, too, to make sure you are all getting professional-level journalism.

I am also hoping to have some in-person member-exclusive meetup events in the Bay Area and beyond, in addition to digital/audio/video content as we go, but the bread and butter of this is going to be just bringing journalism around the team.

I am really excited to bet on myself and most importantly, on this audience for the season. I hope you will come on this journey with me and become a Valkyries Beat member for the long haul.
