Cecilia Zandalasini wasn’t sure what she was feeling when she exited the Valkyries’ opener in Seattle on May 9. She had been hit in the head by a flying elbow in the second quarter, and the injury report listed her with a jaw injury.
The next day, she entered concussion protocol. It was her first time dealing with constant headaches.
“It was scary because I got hit in the head, but I thought, okay I’ll be better in a couple days,” Zandalasini said at shootaround before the Valkyries took on Connecticut at home on Monday. “I tried to go to the gym and just get some shots up and it was a nightmare.”
