If Kaila Charles wanted to keep shooting against her brother as a kid, she had to rebound.
The way Charles tells the story, her brother would get 10 shots to her five. If she missed, the ball would roll into the road. So before she could take another shot, she had to chase it down.
“I think that’s what made me such a good rebounder,” Charles told Valkyries Beat after a practice last week. “That’s become a big part of my game.”
Nearly two decades later, that same tenacity has become a defining part of Charles’ role with the Golden State Valkyries.
